The London Business Loans' Wholesale Loan Fund is dedicated to helping businesses that have been unable to raise the finance they require through traditional sources.

Created with private investment, the Fund provides capital for small business either through locally run loan funds across London or through larger direct lending. Through our unique structure the Fund will support thousands of entrepreneurs that are currently unable to access mainstream finance while providing a commercial return to our investors.

About the Fund

London Business Loans (LBL) began trading in September 2007 providing loan capital to community-based loan funds (often known as Community Development Finance Institutions or CDFIs). They, in turn, lend this capital to disadvantaged entrepreneurs who are unable to borrow from banks and other mainstream sources.

LBL has approved loan facilities of £1.3m to two CDFIs, and made £355,000 in larger loans directly to small businesses. More than £1.2m has been on-lent, allowing over 100 people to start a new business or grow an existing enterprise. None of these businesses would have been able to implement their plans, to create jobs and economic growth without LBL's help, as all had trouble sourcing finance from other lenders.

Local loan funds

The Fund provides lending capital and expertise to CDFIs and other non-bank groups wishing to support their communities through loan finance.

The local loan funds receive access to capital on good terms, London Business Loans shares their risk and access to GLE oneLondon's lending expertise, legal documentation and best practice.

Direct loans

If you are a growing business we can offer unsecured business loans of between £20,000 and £70,000 and property backed loans of up to £100,000.

Social enterprises and not-for-profit companies can also receive property backed loans of up to £250,000 at rates competitive with traditional banking sources.

Investors

The fund offers a secured long term investment giving a competitive return while supporting businesses that could not exist or expand without its help. It offers truly social investment allowing investors to directly support businesses in London at a reduced level of risk and at a time when business finance is sorely needed.
